Chandigarh University Viral Video: Cyberattack on a Girl Student

Cybercrime is at its verge. One cybercrime takes place in every 10 minutes and for this reason it became very essential to be aware of cyberattack and take precaution related to cybercrime. But what if, you think that you are in a place where nobody can see you but there is actually someone recording you.

Same happened with a girl student of #ChandigarhUniversity. The incident took place on September 17, a video has been leaked of that girl bathing in university's girls' hostel. The hostel warden, who was seen in a viral video confronting the arrested girl who has been accused of allegedly sending the videos to men outside the university, reportedly didn't inform police about the matter immediately. She also allegedly scolded the girls when students started the protest. Protesting students alleged that a student made videos of girl students while taking a bath in the hostel. The video was later made viral on social media. The protesting students also claimed that after the videos went viral, girl students living in the hostel attempted suicide. However, police refused all claims of suicide.

Police had arrested the woman student who was accused of making the videos, but had said on Sunday that she had shared a video of only herself with her 23-year-old boyfriend, who was arrested from Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. A 31-year-old man has also arrested who was involved in the case.

On Sunday several students, parents and youth of the city fearing for their own safety on campus, took to the streets of campus to protest against the college administration. The university announced "non-teaching days" till September 24, following which several students returned to their homes. Some parents of students also took back their wards from the campus. It also suspended two wardens for negligence and declared.
The students are protesting and demanding for #JusticeForCUGirls. The students have demanded for three actions to be taken: a 10-member committee of students will be given updates in the case, the warden of the hostel - where the incident happened - would be suspended, and a checking of the girls’ hostel would be done. The varsity has also assured that they would replace the mobile phones of students, broken during the demonstrations, and doors in the girls hostel washrooms would be replaced.
#ChandigarhUniversityMMS has left many girls haunted and shattered, not only from the Chandigarh University but the girls from the city and from other universities living in the hostels. Keeping these scenarios and cases of today's world in mind Cyberbharat, a Non-Profitable Organization has been established for providing free social services and rescue the youngsters (especially girls) who falls into the trap of cybercrime.
